Canada’s Young Farmers is a national initiative created to connect, support, and amplify young farmers and young agricultural leaders across Canada.
Built through consultation and collaboration with young farmers, young farmer organizations, program leaders, and agricultural partners, CYF responds to a call for a national platform where young farmers can connect across regions and production sectors, access leadership and learning opportunities, and help shape the future of Canadian agriculture.
CYF is designed to complement, not duplicate, the important work already happening through provincial, territorial, regional, and sector-based young farmer organizations.
Canada’s Young Farmers is designed to serve individuals under 40 with an interest in farming, including farm operators, successors, and those exploring pathways into commercial agriculture.
CYF brings together young farmers, young farmer organizations, agricultural partners, and industry leaders to support connection, collaboration, leadership development, mentorship, resource sharing, and national engagement opportunities.
Farm Management Canada serves as the national coordinating organization and secretariat for CYF, helping convene partners, support programming, coordinate communications, and advance national opportunities for young farmers.
Young farmers are the future of Canada’s agriculture and agri-food sector. They are entrepreneurs, innovators, business owners, community leaders, and change-makers.
Across Canada, young farmers have identified the need for stronger connections, more accessible leadership pathways, farm business management support, mentorship, and opportunities to bring their perspectives into national conversations.
CYF was created to help meet that need by providing a national gathering space where young farmers can share ideas, identify priorities, access resources, and build the skills and relationships needed to lead within their farms, organizations, communities, and the broader agriculture sector.
Canada’s Young Farmers works to:
- Build community and connection between young farmers across regions and production sectors
- Share programs, events, resources, tools, and learning opportunities
- Support leadership, professional development, and capacity building
- Strengthen access to mentorship, networking, and farm business management support
- Create space for young farmer perspectives in national discussions
- Support collaboration between young farmer organizations, industry partners, and agricultural leaders
- Help young farmers identify opportunities to get involved in sector leadership, governance, advocacy, and engagement
CYF will also serve as a national resource and networking hub to help young farmers quickly find programs, events, learning opportunities, funding information, leadership pathways, and connections across Canada.
