JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Project Manager
Location: Remote
Start date: March/April
Duration: Full-time, permanent
Compensation: $59,500 (negotiable based on experience and qualifications)
Job Summary:
This position is responsible for organizing and delivering a variety of learning events and initiatives across Canada to increase the awareness, appreciation and adoption of farm business management practices throughout Canada’s agricultural sector. The position will lead capacity-building initiatives that strengthen industry coordination, alignment, and skills development, including the National Pork Sustainability Project. Activities may also include organizing, hosting and/or facilitating national and regional events including conferences, workshops, webinars, roundtables, focus groups and industry meetings, and managing the development of resources and tools. Travel within Canada will be required, with the possibility of some international travel. The project manager will work in collaboration with other staff, government and industry partners and report directly to the Executive Director.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the National Pork Sustainability Project including managing performance, and monitoring, evaluation, reporting, and continuous improvement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with industry groups, partners, clients, and funders.
- Support the delivery complementary capacity-building initiatives that enhance industry coordination, leadership, and farm business management skills
- Facilitate and participate in advisory groups, committees, and working groups to inform direction and industry alignment
- Represent the organization through public speaking and presentations at regional and national events
- Develop and execute detailed plans, schedules, and timely reporting to team members.
- Contribute to thought leadership and practical initiatives that advance farm business management excellence on Canada’s farms
- Ensure effective communication, collaboration, and knowledge sharing
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, legal requirements and brand standards
- Maintain organized records and files (working and final copies)
- Perform ad hoc duties as required
Abilities:
- Strong ability to organize and lead projects in agriculture education and capacity building
- Strong ability to organize and lead events including hosting, facilitating and presenting at workshops, meetings, roundtables and focus groups
- Strong ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) in English for the purpose of completing daily activities
- Strong ability to interact effectively with a variety of team members, partners and clients
- Strong ability to communicate complex information in a straightforward, clear manner both verbally and in writing
- Strong ability to multi-task
- Proficiency in French (verbal and in writing) considered an important asset
Education:
- College or University Degree
- Project or Event Management certification considered an asset
General Knowledge:
- Knowledge of project and event management best practices
- Knowledge of farm business management and the agricultural sector is considered an important asset
Experience:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience in Project Management considered an asset
- Experience in financial management (budgeting, tracking, reporting) considered an asset
- Experience in public speaking and education through industry events and meetings considered an asset
- Experience in agriculture and/or business management considered an important asset
- Experience in a non-profit environment considered an asset
Working Conditions:
- Remote (from your home office)
- Use of a computer and office equipment
- Flexible working hours
- Travel within Canada will be required (approximately 20-30 days/year)
- Possible international travel
Supervision:
The position is supervised by the Executive Director
